Section A Surah An-Nisā’ (4:1–10) — Justice Begins at Home Most people think Surah An-Nisā’ is primarily about women’s rights, inheritance, and family law. But Allah begins somewhere much deeper. Before speaking about laws, wealth, marriage, or inheritance, Allah addresses all of humanity: “O mankind! Fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul…” (4:1) This opening verse is the foundation of the entire surah. It reminds us that every human being shares the same Creator and the same origin. No race, tribe, nationality, wealth, social status, or gender makes one person inherently superior to another. The only true measure of honor is taqwa. From this foundation, Allah teaches that justice does not begin in courts or governments. It begins at home. A society cannot claim to be civilized if it neglects those who are most vulnerable. This verse brings forth several of their qualities. Firstly: i. They are the ones who have faith in the unseen, things that cannot be seen or felt by the ordinary human senses, but are acknowledged and believed through careful consideration and thought based on evidence acceptable to a sound mind. Just like we believe in the existence of Allah SWT, His beautiful names, and His noble attributes. PN: While we can't see feelings in the same way we see physical objects, we do experience them through our physical bodies and trust in their reality based on those experiences.
